Jesse Lee United Methodist Church’s new Pastor Fern Blair Hart will be at the church from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, March 2, to hand out ashes. No appointment is necessary, just come to the front door of the sanctuary.

There will also be a service that evening at 7:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary at 25 Flat Rock Rd. The choir will sing and ashes will be distributed.

Pastor Hart is a lifelong Methodist and found her calling to ministry after a 36-year career as an elementary school teacher in Bethel where she resides and a secretary-dispatcher for the city of Danbury. During Pastor Fern’s “retirement” she became a certified Lay Minister and then went on to attend Local Pastor’s Licensing School, completing her course of studies in 2015.

Jesse Lee is Pastor Fern’s second appointment, having previously served in Canaan, Conn. Over its long history of over 200 years, Pastor Fern will only be the second woman to serve Jesse Lee as its spiritual leader. We welcome her to her new church home.
