The much anticipated July 4th weekend was evident yesterday at Easton’s busy farm stands and in neighboring supermarket parking lots, where crowds were stocking up for family get-togethers and celebrations.

In these challenging times, rocked by economic hardships and political division, we in Easton can enjoy what many cannot. Our beautiful open spaces for hiking and bird-watching, our bountiful local produce and our ability to value our neighbors no matter their political persuasions or religious beliefs.

So let’s focus on the good things in our lives, which again, others do not have. Let’s eat well and enjoy the lush summer days ahead in our bucolic Easton.

From our house to yours, the Courier staff wishes you a safe and happy Fourth.
