Churches in Easton on Feb. 22 will celebrate Ash Wednesday, a holy day for many Christians marking the first day of Lent.
Christ Church will host their annual “Ash and Dash” on Wednesday morning from 8:00 to 9:30 and later from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. The event accommodates those who are unable to attend in-person church services to still receive their ashes. Those interested can pull into the parking lot of the church during the designated times and receive their ashes without leaving their car.
Christ Church will also offer an Ash Wednesday service at 6 p.m. The brief service will include a reading of Holy Scriptures, a sermon by Rev. Ally, prayers, and the imposition of ashes. Christ Church is located at the intersection of Church Road and Route 59.
Elsewhere, Notre Dame of Easton will be distributing ashes during the 7:30 a.m. Mass and during the Liturgy of the Word Service at noon. Notre Dame of Easton is located at 655 Morehouse Road.
Also, Jesse Lee Methodist Church will have ashes to go on Wednesday in the church lobby from 9 a.m. to noon. Jesse Lee is located at 25 Flat Rock Road in Easton.
