The National Weather Service has issued a storm warning in the area beginning between 7 and 10 p.m. this evening through 7 p.m on Tuesday.

In response, Dr. Jason McKinnon, Superintendent of Schools announced, “Due to anticipated severe weather tonight and tomorrow, all schools and offices will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday, February 28). All evening activities, including the Region 9 Board meeting, are also cancelled.”

Town Hall will delay opening tomorrow until 11 a.m.

As previously reported, the town of Easton has banned parking on public roadways during and after the storm per town ordinance.

Easton Police Chief Richard Doyle has advised that storm preparations are underway. Equipment and vehicles have been double- checked and fueled.

“As always, we encourage people to stay home and let Public Works do their job,” said Doyle. “They do a great job.”

Doyle voiced a concern about new drivers. “This is our first storm of the season and those who aren’t experienced driving in snow conditions should stay home,” he said.

If there are emergencies call 911.

“Please don’t call the police department to see how roads are,” said Doyle
