Daylight saving time officially begins at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 12. Remember to set your clocks ahead an hour.
Although the idea for daylight saving time has been attributed, somewhat apocryphally, to Benjamin Franklin, it was not widely adopted until the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, according to David Prerau in Seize the Daylight: The Curious and Contentious Story of Daylight Saving Time.
