Citizens for Easton (CFE) will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, May 17, from 6:30 to 8 :30 p.m. at the Easton Library Community Room. Refreshments will be served.

CFE, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Easton’s natural and agricultural resources, will welcome two guest speakers Wednesday evening: Tomas Koeck, nature photographer and filmmaker, and Dave Cadra, falconer. Koeck will speak about his work as a nature photographer and his passion for conservation. Cadra will give a presentation on the art of falconry, with his falcon, Blinda, and speak of the role of falcons in the environment.

Koeck is a 24-year-old award-winning filmmaker, photographer, and conservationist. He began taking photos in 2017 after he bought his first digital single-lens reflex camera and soon found himself transferring out of biology at Pennsylvania State University to pursue digital media and an MFA at Sacred Heart University.

Koeck’s work has found its way into PBS’s “Nature,” the National Audubon Society, ESPN, Tamron Optics, among others. His awards in the environmental field include the University of Connecticut Environmental Issues Award for his work in invasive plant research. He is currently on the board of directors at the Connecticut Audubon Society. Tomas also writes a bi-weekly column in the Easton Courier called “Sunday Nature Walk” which focuses on a new environmental topic each issue.

Cadra — a falconer with many years experience — is passionate about the art of falconry and the role of falcons in the environment, and an added bonus on Wednesday: He will be accompanied by his own falcon, Blinda. Attendees should arrive early in the evening for a closer look at this magnificent bird.
