Joel Barlow High School’s Language Honor Society will host a student and parent world language social on Friday, June 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria to encourage students to continue pursuing a language.

Sophie Peterson and Emma Sarkinovic, members of the Barlow’s Language Honor Society, are promoting the event and encourage elementary and middle school students in Easton and Redding to learn a foreign language and create connections at the event.

“This is a wonderful event to support Redding and Easton’s education and community while motivating students to continue pursuing a language,” said Peterson.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Sandi VanAusdal Travel Scholarship in honor of a former language teacher who taught French and Spanish at Barlow for 20 years before she passed away in January 2022.

The entrance fee is $20 entrance fee for students and a $15 dollar entrance fee for parents. Food is included.
