Joel Barlow High School’s National Honor Society is hosting Mikey’s Way Color Run on Sunday, June 4, at the high school to support the Mikey’s Way Foundation.

The Barlow-born organization donates electronics to children being treated in hospitals. The foundation was created by Mikey Friedman, and his father and step-mother, Les and Cathy Friedman, have continued the foundation in his memory.

Mikey’s Way Color Run

The 5K or walk run, sponsored by the Gupta Family and Battimelli’s A&S Italian Fine Foods, is open to  community members. Participants are encouraged to run with their friends, families, and sports teams. Volunteers will be throwing colored powder on participants. It will get messy. Those who purchase a ticket will be entered in a raffle to win a $40 gift card to Pignones Redding Ridge Market.

Check in will begin at 9:45 a.m. The run will begin at 10:30 a.m., and ends at 12:00 p.m. The College Creamery will be selling ice cream for $4, and a portion of the profits will be donated to the Mikey’s Way Foundation.

Tickets can be purchased online through the MySchoolBucks website . There are three types of tickets: a Color Run Kit (which includes a Mikey’s Way T-shirt, a granola bar, wristbands, a pamphlet, and sunglasses), a Color Run Kit without the t-shirt, and single tickets. Tickets and kits may also be purchased at the event, but kits are limited. If you intend to buy a single ticket, please bring your own disposable t-shirt, as they will not be provided.
