Traditionally Easton has marked anniversaries of the September 11 terrorist attacks only on “round” years. It was suggested at a Board of Selectmen meeting that there be a ceremony every year. After talking to a number of residents, I had the sense that people had very personal thoughts about 9/11 and did not appreciate regular large ceremonies. Out of respect, I plan to lay a wreath at our 9/11 memorial in front of the library on Monday, Sept. 11. There will be a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time when the first plane hit, and then placement of the wreath. I do not plan to have any speeches or ceremony and anyone who wants to attend is of course welcome.
Easton Volunteer EMS will host fireworks at Samuel Staples Elementary School on Sept. 16. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 8:45 p.m.. For tickets, please see EASTON EMS FIREWORKS, Sat, Sep 16, 2023 at 6:00 PM. Food trucks and ice cream on site. All proceeds go to the Easton Volunteer EMS “New Building Fund”.
Flu shots will be offered for adults at the Easton Senior Center on Wednesday, Oct. 4 and Thursday, Oct. 12 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. You must call for an appointment (203) 268-1145 and bring your insurance ID to the appointment.
SAVE THE DATE! The second Annual Free Spirit Festival with Chasing the Legend: Easton’s Lady in White 5K is planned for Saturday, Oct 28.
Enjoy the beautiful weekend,
