Election season is upon us. So that we can publish as many statements and letters as possible, the Courier has rules and guidelines for candidates, parties and supporters for the Nov. 7 municipal election.
We expect candidates and supporters to stick to issues and not indulge in personal attacks on candidates. We may reject any letter or statement we think is unfair, libelous or in poor taste.
Letters
Easton residents may submit letters of 250 words or fewer on general election issues or touting a candidate or group of candidates. Please include a word count with your letter and your address and phone number (this information will not be published). A person may write one letter per candidate. Deadline is Thursday, Nov. 2 at 11:59 p.m.
Candidate Profiles
We will publish candidate profiles prior to the election. Please submit a 300-word biography and 500-word statement discussing three top issues facing Easton and how you will help solve them. Profiles are due Oct. 4.
The Courier requests a high-resolution (large size on a cell phone) headshot of candidates for use with profiles and as needed throughout the campaign.
Party Statements
Political parties may submit one commentary column of up to 500 words, discussing the slate and its advantages. The deadline is Oct. 8.
Parties and candidates may electronically submit campaign-related photos with a caption and brief press release. Photos should be in jpg format and should not be compressed or altered.
Deadlines
Deadlines and word limits will be enforced. All articles should be submitted through the submission page at eastoncourier.news: https://eastoncourier.news/community-voices-submission, or emailed to eastoncourierct@gmail.com.
