The Easton-Sviatohirsk Sister City Steering Committee recently held “Easton Rocks for Ukraine,” a benefit concert in partnership with Christ Church Easton, to raise funds to help restore and rebuild Sviatohirsk, Easton’s sister city in war-torn Ukraine.

Irena Hart and Friends performed at the event on Sept. 10 at 59 Church Road. Hart, a Ukrainian-born singer/songwriter and activist, sang a sampling of Ukrainian folks songs. In addition, Friends, a three-piece band, performed a variety of popular and rock numbers.

Proceeds from the concert will be used to help fund the committee’s goal to raise $30,000 to purchase a pellet manufacturing machine to heat homes in Sviatohirsk. Previously, the committee raised funds through donations from Easton’s residents to purchase and deliver a dump truck and water filtration system for Sviatohirsk.

To donate to the program, which was launched in March, go to  www.UkraineAidInternational.org/donate and select the “Easton-Sviatohirsk Sister City” designation on the donation page.
