Mrs. Claus and Santa welcome guests.— Beth Cliff Photo

More than 100 hearty souls braved the mist and rain to come together at the library on Dec. 3 for the Artisan Craft Fair, Tree Lighting, and “Easton Expo.” Whether it was shopping at the artisans’ market, getting one’s picture taken at the Photo Booth, making a button pin at the craft table, singing along with Ellie the Elf, whispering to Santa and Mrs. Claus hopes for gifts this year, casting one’s votes for the winning gingerbread houses, or meeting outside to light the tree: Everyone had something to do that brought a smile to their face and a warm feeling of connection and goodwill to the community. Thanks to the Friends of the Library, and especially to volunteer extraordinaire Kelly Byrne Skarupa, for bringing us together at this time of year with so many options for fun and good cheer.

This year, the gingerbread house contest and the Easton Expo, where various town entities were able to share their work with residents, were welcome additions and likely to repeat in the future. Community members of all ages had fun decorating their gingerbread houses together on Dec. 2. Voting is ongoing at the library until Dec. 15. You can cast your ballot at the library.

The Friends would like to thank everyone for coming and enjoying the event, with a special shout-out to those of you who were willing to stay late to help clean up and get the library ready for Monday’s regular opening. It truly does take a village!

To keep up to date on Friends activities, please go to our website, eastonlibraryfriends.org or email us at friends@eastonlibrary.org. Our next planning meeting is Wednesday, Jan 17 at 7 p.m. in the library conference room. We welcome new faces, fresh ideas and helping hands.

Please enjoy these contributed photos community members sharing Easton’s robust holiday spirit.
