Samuel Staples Elementary School students learned about the planets, constellations and space exploration when an inflatable Sky Dome Planetarium visited the school.

The school’s Parent Teacher Association arranged for Mobile Ed Productions Inc. to deploy its traveling SkyDome Planetarium  to give students a 45-minute celestial exploration.

The inflatable planetarium was pumped up in the school gymnasium. When students entered inside they were given an interactive presentation on the solar system, complete with projections of outer space.

“The students learned so much about the solar system and couldn’t stop talking about how awesome the experience was,” said Sarah E. Angiolillo, a second-grade teacher at the school. “They got to see everything from the stars, Milky Way, galaxies, various planets, various moons and constellations.”

Braxton Muscarelle loved viewing the group of stars in the night sky. “My favorite part of the SkyDome was the map of constellations on the sky because it was cool to see what the stars made,” said Braxton.

Ben Catandella liked entering through the dark tunnel that led the students inside the planetarium to a presenter who explained the different nighttime scenes that he projected onto the ceiling.

“The SkyDome was fun,” said Ben. “I liked the entrance and I learned there are many rings around Saturn.”

Dori Girgenti’s favorite part of the presentation was watching a rocket ship fly across the SkyDome.
