Easton Police are investigating two separate car crashes on Route 59 that sent three people to the hospital and closed the roadway for hours.
Both accidents took place on June 4. The first took place around 3:34 p.m. at the intersection of Route 59 and Adams Road.
Upon the arrival of Easton Police, Fire and EMS found that two cars were involved in an accident and one of the vehicles had struck a telephone pole secondary to the initial crash, causing significant damage to the pole.
The sole occupants in each vehicle each sustained injuries that required treatment and transport by EMS to local hospitals, according to police.
United Illuminating and Frontier were notified to secure and replace the telephone pole and the utilities attached to that pole. Traffic in the area was rerouted for approximately 2 hours while the investigation and clean-up took place.
The second accident of the day, occurred later in the evening around 8:36 p.m. north of the intersection of Route 59 and Hayes Street. The driver of a car was taken to local hospital with serious injuries after the car rolled over, ejecting the unrestrained driver into the wooded area on the southbound shoulder.
Both accidents are under investigation and anyone who witnessed them is encouraged to contact the Easton Police Department at 203-268-4111.
