The Presidential Election is just around the corner, and with that there are a few important dates we need to remind you of.

First, mail-in, on-line or via DMV registrations must reach our offices by Friday, Oct. 18. After that, only in-person registration is available through Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Early voting will start on Monday, Oct. 21 and end on Sunday, Nov. 3. Hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and Thursday, Oct. 31, when it will from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Same day registration will be available during early voting hours and on Election Day. The early voting location is the Easton Public Library Community Room on Morehouse Road.

Absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m., before closing, on Nov. 5, Election Day. Make sure to mail your ballot early so we receive it in plenty of time before the close of the polls on Nov 5. In prior years, several absentee ballots were mailed three-to-four days prior to the deadline and were received four-to-five days past Election Day, and so they did not qualify..

A reminder to all about early voting and voting by absentee ballots: We have fielded several questions where voters thought they are the same. Nothing is further from the truth. Absentee ballots are for sick, disabled voters and for those who will be out of town on Election Day. Should their plans change, they can withdraw their ballot by contacting the Town Clerk up to 10 a.m. on Election Day and then proceed to vote in person.

Early voting on the other hand is a convenience factor and once done, that’s it, you cannot undo it.

See you at the polls!
