Save the date! Please join us at the Easton Senior Center on Monday, Nov. 4 for a Breakfast (9:30 a.m.) and a Concert (11 a.m.) to thank our Veterans.  All are welcome. Please call to sign up 203-268-1145.  Also, the Senior Center Annual Holiday Boutique is starting on Monday, November 4th.

A number of combined factors have made our streets, especially Sport Hill Road, extremely busy with traffic for Silverman’s Farm. This is the height of apple and pumpkin season.  While we are happy to show off our town, and our farms benefit from people passing through town, it is annoying at best. There are a number of folks working to direct traffic with close monitoring by the police. Please keep in mind, this is only several weekends out of the entire year. Apple picking season is coming to an end and crowds should be more manageable. If you live in town, you know how to get around avoiding Sport Hill Road, so take advantage of back roads. Thank you for your patience.

Over the past several weeks, the Senior Center has provided well over 250 Flu, Covid, RSV, and Shingles vaccines to local seniors, including yours truly for Flu and Covid. Great job by the Senior Center for organizing, and thank you to Will Zaleha of Valley Pharmacy. The final vaccination date for 2024 is Friday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is required.

The Friends of the Easton Public Library is sponsoring a duo named “Rave On!” on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Community Room. They will be featuring the music of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison, playing hits like “That’ll Be The Day,” “Not Fade Away,” “Peggy Sue,” “Pretty Woman,” “Crying,” and “Only The Lonely,” along with other classic, early rock-n-roll songs. Please register to attend. The Library is also kicking off this season’s Classic Film Series on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Easton Senior Center with the 1962 film “Ride the High Country”, starring Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott. Joel’s son, Peter McCrea, will be on hand to discuss the film and his famous father. This series is hosted by film historian and Easton resident, Jon Sonneborn, and co-sponsored by the Easton Arts Council.

Bring the kids for trick-or-treating to the Halloween-decorated Easton Town Hall on Friday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 5 p.m. All are welcome.
