It’s officially spooky season. From cemetery walks and runs to good old-fashioned trick or treating, there’s plenty of fun stuff to do around town this weekend.
Candy and Treats
Grab those pillowcases and jack-o-lantern buckets and head over to the Halloween-decorated Easton Town Hall today, Oct. 25, from 4 to 5 p.m. with the kiddos for trick or treating.
Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun.
Chasing the Legend
The third annual Free Spirit Festival and Lady in White 5K will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26. Events include the 5K starting at Christ Church, a kids “Fun Run” and awards ceremony.
Runners will trek a scenic course on North Park Avenue while viewing the fall foliage and learning historic facts along the way. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Christ Church’s parking lot at 59 Church Road. The race will take place rain or shine. For more information and run sign up click here.
In addition to the 5K, Easton’s Park and Recreation office and the Easton Public Library have scheduled more spooky events. Park and Recreation and the Easton Art Center will hold a brush tattoo session from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a Halloween pop-up market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The library will hold a Halloween story time at 11 a.m. and a STEAM corner for kindergarten through fifth grade students at 1 p.m.
The Easton Arts Council will be providing pumpkin painting and tattoos (stick-on) from 9 a.m. to noon.

Cemetery Walk
On Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. walk through Gilbertown Cemetery with local historian Frank Pagliaro and learn about past residents, sickness, death, burial in the 18th and 19th centuries, unique gravestones’ historical significance, and the committee’s ongoing preservation work to save them. Registration is required, and donations are accepted.
Donations will also be accepted on the day of the event. There is a limit of 25 attendees. The rain date is Nov. 3. Reach Pagliaro for more information at poppapags@gmail.com.

The Ultimate Halloween Bash
The Lions Club of Easton’s Halloween Bonfire, Trunk or Treat and Costume Contest promises to be the spookiest night of all. It begins on Thursday, Oct. 31 at the Morehouse Fields adjacent Samuel Staples Elementary School and is open to all ages. Admission is free with music, doughnuts, cider and apples available at no charge. The Trunk or Treat event will be held at 5:30 p.m. for trick or treating. Set-up time is from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The costume contest and bonfire begins at 6 p.m. Prize ribbons for the costume contest will be awarded in three costume categories: funniest, prettiest, and most original, for five different age groups from ages 2 to adult. The bonfire usually towers up to 30 feet. Keith Lobdell of “Just a Song Entertainment” will provide the music; Todd Bires will do the lighting. Tony Spinelli will supply the doughnuts. Silverman’s Farm staff will provide apples and cider and build the bonfire. First responders from the Easton Fire Department, Easton Police Department and Easton EMS will oversee the bonfire
Candy donations for the trunk or treat event will be accepted through Oct. 30 at the Park and Recreation office of the Extended Day Program at Samuel Staples School in room 139. If you are interested in signing up for your trunk, email eastontrunkortreat@gmail.com. The rain date is Nov. 3.
