The Easton Public Library Board of Trustees named Sheila Weaver this year’s recipient of the Anne Lindquist Library Spirit Award. Sheila will be honored at a reception in the library community room on Sunday, June 29 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Sheila moved to Easton from Kansas in 2005. Her background includes 30 years in the corporate world, with roles in IT, customer service, and operations for a broadcast news service. After her company was sold, she transitioned to consulting and non-profit fundraising, becoming a leader in event design.
In Easton, Sheila quickly became involved with the Easton Arts Council, planning and promoting the juried events of Art in the Country and Photography Contest. Her contributions include working with Dolly Curtis on the Easton Library’s Oral History Project and curating exhibitions in the library’s small gallery conference room). Her latest initiative includes curating solo art exhibitions in the community room gallery year-round.
Under her leadership, the Arts Council collaborated with various organizations in the community to promote the arts in Easton, including: The James Baldwin Centennial Celebration, Pride Art Exhibition, Easton Free Spirit Festival, Welcome to Easton Sign Contest, and Kaleidoscope, the Neurodiversity Art Exhibition.
Sheila’s collaborative spirit extends beyond the Arts Council. She generously lends her time and talents to the Friends of the Easton Library, the Easton Diversity & Inclusion Task Force, Ukraine Aid International and the Black Rock Arts Guild, where she serves as co-president, secretary, and treasurer.
She curates for the Kershner Gallery in the Fairfield Public Library and volunteers as a graphic artist for The Umbrella Club, a charitable organization that supports children in need in Fairfield County. Additionally, she reads aloud to students at the Discovery Magnet School in Bridgeport.
The reception to honor Sheila is open to the public. If interested in attending, please email Lynn Zaffino at lzaffino@eastonlibrary.org or call the Library at 203-261-0134.
