Easton Selectman Nicholas D’Addario launched his campaign for first selectman on Friday at Silverman’s Farm, aiming to succeed First Selectman David Bindelglass, who is retiring after three terms.

Adrienne Burke will run for selectman, joining D’Addario on the Democratic ticket. Burke, a registered unaffiliated voter, currently sits on the library board in the role of treasurer and is the owner of Greiser’s Coffee and Market.

Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz introduced and endorsed D’Addario on behalf of Governor Ned Lamont, expressing strong support for his candidacy and leadership. State Rep. Anne Hughes and Bindelglass were also on hand to pledge their support, adding to the show of Democratic unity heading into the fall.

D’Addario said his campaign will build on the success of the last six years of Bindelglass’s tenure, and focus on preserving Easton’s heritage and character, supporting residents across generations, investing in education and community resources, and maintaining a transparent and responsible government.

“I believe in a local government that listens, stays focused, and works for everyone — and everyone means whether you’ve lived in this town for four generations or four months,” said D’Addario during the kickoff. He highlighted his campaign motto, “preservation with progress,” and emphasized the importance and timeliness of Burke’s “fresh, much-needed non-partisan perspective.”

“I’m excited to have Adrienne Burke as my running mate,” D’Addario said. “She perfectly embodies the spirit of Easton with the sense of community she’s built at Greiser’s. She took a 100-year-old institution, renewed it while respecting its history, and that’s what I think progress is in this town.”

During the 2023 municipal elections, Bindelglass and D’Addario led the Democratic ticket that secured the most decisive victory for Democrats in Easton’s history, sweeping all major races by historically large margins.

Voters will decide Easton’s next first selectman in the November municipal election.
