Easton Democratic Town Committee Chair Nanette DeWester announced the committee unanimously endorsed the Easton Democrats’ slate of candidates for the 2025 municipal elections following a special endorsement meeting.
“Tonight we endorsed a remarkable slate of candidates committed to local government that’s transparent, competent, and grounded in civility and compassion,” DeWester said. “When accomplished citizens like these step forward, the whole community wins.”
“Easton Democrats have a strong record. Under Democratic leadership, Easton has successfully resolved longstanding challenges, protected open spaces and farms, and ensured our continued support for seniors and excellent schools.
“Moreover,” DeWester continued, “Easton benefits from the strong working relationships our local Democratic officials maintain with state leaders in Hartford. These relationships help secure state resources for critical local projects, like the EMS building renovations, and ensure Easton’s voice is heard at the state level. The great relationships we’ve built in Hartford are immensely valuable to our town.”
Before the town committee vote, incumbent First Selectman Dave Bindelglass spoke about the importance of continuing the work of his three terms leading town government in Easton.
“I can’t think of a better team than Nick D’Addario and Adrienne Burke to continue the work we’ve done to make local government more effective,” Bindelglas said. “They both bring such strong dedication to preserving what’s so special about Easton..

“Both have a strong track record of fiscal responsibility and an appreciation for bipartisanship, which can help protect Easton from the toxic partisan battles that have ravaged so many other small towns.”
Incumbent Selectman Nick D’Addario was endorsed for first selectman, and Adrienne Burke, a local business owner and library board treasurer, was endorsed for selectman.
D’Addario said, “I’ll continue the work I’ve done with Dave Bindelglass to deliver on the promises we made while ensuring everyone in town has a voice. We’ve held the line on taxes without major cuts to services or schools, ensured the preservation of open spaces and farms, and secured millions in state funding for the EMS project. With the potential for an economic downturn looming, I’m committed to effective town government that works for us all. I am thrilled to be running with Adrienne. Her work at Greiser’s is an excellent example of preserving everything that makes Easton unique while planning for our future.”
Burke said, “I’m proud to join Nick D’Addario on the Democratic ticket in my run for selectman. Running a thriving business in Easton, I’ve proven I know how to balance a budget, work well with town boards and commissions, and step up in times of need for the community. Over the last seven years I’ve created a gathering place that unites neighbors with diverse points of view, and I hope to extend that spirit of leadership, collaboration, open communication and optimism to the Board of Selectmen to serve the town we all love. I believe our citizens can transcend partisanship to preserve all that we value in our town while ensuring a better future for everyone.”
DeWester added, “Importantly, we continue to fight for democratic principles such as expanding citizens’ access to information and input to town affairs. Tonight we’re proud to endorse this slate that welcomes two amazing Unaffiliated candidates — Adrienne Burke and Christine Calvert — to build on that success.”
Since Democrats won the majority on the Easton Board of Selectmen in 2019 after three decades under a Republican majority, they vastly expanded opportunities for citizens to participate in local government, doubling the amount of citizen commentary allowed at Board of Selectman meetings, instituting town-wide referenda after town meetings to give all registered voters in Easton a direct voice in major decisions, and enacting the Land Use Ordinance so voters can decide the fate of town-owned land.
In the last municipal election cycle in 2023, Easton Democrats secured one of their most decisive victories ever in town elections, winning all major races by historically large margins on the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, and Region 9 Board of Education. Democrats also won seats on the Easton Board of Education, Library Board, Board of Assessment Appeals, and Zoning Board of Appeals with 51% voter turnout.
