The Easton Arts Council will present The Mosaic Exhibit, a vibrant showcase of mosaic artistry by acclaimed artist Lois Ramunni, at the Community Room Gallery in the Easton Public Library The exhibit runs from Aug. 13 through Sept. 27, with a public reception on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Ramunni’s journey into the world of mosaics began in Tuscany, Italy, where she studied under a classical mosaic artist. Her passion for the medium blossomed into a career that spans decades and continents, blending traditional techniques with contemporary themes.
Her work has graced numerous juried art shows and prestigious venues such as the Design Center of The Americas (DCOTA) in Dania Beach, Florida. Collaborating with interior designers, Ramunni’s mosaics have been featured at the Surfcomber Hotel in South Beach, Kimora in Coconut Grove, and the Schrager Estate in Boca Raton.
Her commissions include both private and public installations, notably the Carretero Private Collection in Micanopy, FL and Valencia, Spain, and St. Augustin’s Catholic Church in Coral Gables. She also completed five public art projects through the Art in State Buildings Awards, including works for the Miami Dade Department of Health, Florida International University, and Florida A&M University.
“I love making mosaics,” Ramunni shares. “I like the feel of the marble and travertine, the colors of the tiles and glass. With themes from life experiences, I want to captivate the viewer’s imagination.”
Visitors to the exhibit will experience a rich tapestry of color, texture, and storytelling. Each piece a reflection of Ramunni’s artistic journey and her deep connection to the materials she uses.
