The Red Cross Club at Joel Barlow High School hosted its annual blood drive on Monday, Dec. 8. The blood drive was open to the public and took place from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the school’s lower gym.

The event marked the club’s third drive.

This year, the club had two goals: at least 50 signed-up appointments and 30 successful donations, said Arjun Nambiar, a member who said each Wednesday the club collaborates to ensure the event’s success.

The school’s club is an official chapter of the American Red Cross, the well-known humanitarian organization that aims to prevent and alleviate human suffering. The Red Cross Club, which has hosted the blood drive at the school for the last two years, works with the American Red Cross on other club events. It takes part in fundraisers, health training, food banks, volunteer events, and healthcare career days. The drive helps to raise awareness on the importance of donating blood.
