Professor Nicholas R. Brown, an Egyptology postdoctoral associate at Yale University, will present new discoveries from one of ancient Egypt’s most significant archaeological sites during a free public lecture on April 16 at the Congregational Church of Easton.
The event from 7 to 8 p.m. is co sponsored by the Staples Academy Foundation and the Historical Society of Easton.
Brown, who earned his doctorate in Egyptology from the University of California, Los Angeles, serves as director of the Deir el-Ballas Expedition and the Tomb of Thutmose IV (KV43) Research Project. His research focuses on Deir el-Ballas, a palatial city that played a key role during a pivotal period in Egyptian history.
Drawing on recent excavations, Brown will discuss new insights into royal authority, daily life and the cultural landscape of early New Kingdom Egypt.
The lecture is part of the Historical Society of Easton’s History Talks series.
