The Staples Academy Foundation will host a live jazz concert April 23 at the Easton Congregational Church Hall, featuring the Old School Jazz All Stars and The Saugatuck Horns.
The 7 p.m. performance, part of Roger Kaufman’s “Speaking of Music” series, will include Chris Coogan on piano and vocals, Tim DeHuff on guitar, Tyger MacNeal on drums and John Mobilio on bass. The Saugatuck Horns with Dan Donofrio on trumpet and Fred Scerbo on saxophone will join the group.
Organizers said the program will highlight jazz standards, swing and rhythm-and-blues influences in an intimate setting.
Kaufman’s Old School Revue All Stars have performed for more than two decades, focusing on American rhythm and blues, soul, rock, jazz and swing. The group’s repertoire includes music associated with artists such as Steely Dan, Marvin Gaye and Tower of Power.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available online or at the door. Refreshments will be served.
Proceeds will support preservation of the historic Staples Academy building, which dates to 1795 and is among the nation’s earliest co-educational facilities.
The concert will be held at the Easton Congregational Church Hall, 336 Westport Road. For information, call 347-678-7230 or visit staplesacademyfoundation.org.
