Letter: Misinformation Regarding Park and Rec Department

To the Editor:

The Republican candidates for the Board of Finance do not intend to eliminate the Park & Recreation Department. This is a false charge by Democrats, based on a motion made last year by a Republican member of the Board of Finance to consolidate the department with another department in an attempt to save money and not duplicate services. The motion failed to pass, with two Republicans voting against it.

The Democrats are trying to turn this event into a major issue, even supporting a Save the Dog Park event as part of their strategy. Another attempt to win the election by implying that Republicans are against children and dogs.

I hope that Easton voters are too intelligent to be influenced by these misleading assertions and will vote for the most qualified candidates.
