Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Services (EVEMS) is hosting its annual fireworks show on Sept. 10 outside of Samuel Staples Elementary School. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the fireworks beginning at sundown. The event is being held to raise money to replace EMS’s headquarters that was constructed in 1926 and is in dire need of replacement.
Over the years the organization has outgrown its current headquarters at 448 Sport Hill Road, which can no longer support the resources critically needed to fulfill its mission. Built in 1925 and originally a firehouse, the building has housed the EVEMS since 1988. The building’s deficits are well documented: Building Issues Mount as EMS Searches for a New Home.
EVEMS has been holding fundraisers and charity drives to pay for its new headquarters. Earlier this month the organization held its second annual Charity Car Show and Motorcycle Ride to get closer to its goal.
Tickets for the fireworks show are $40 per car and can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/3Tp9zZe or with exact change at the gate.
Snappy Dawgz and Micalizzi’s Italian Ice will be selling food during the event and T-shirts will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
