Easton Park & Recreation Office, the Cemetery Committee, and Christ Church Easton are glad to announce and welcome all to the first annual Free Spirit Festival, occurring over the weekend of Oct. 28.
Centered on the Chasing the Legend: Easton’s Lady in White 5k Run and Walk (click here for race details/to register), there is also a full weekend of fun planned by local groups open to all!
On Friday, Oct. 28, stop by Christ Church Easton (59 Church Road) from 7:30 – 9 p.m. for the Jackson Pike Skifflers and Friends Reunion Concert.
On Saturday, Oct. 29, run or walk the Chasing the Legend 5k (registration opens at 9, race begins at 10) and bring the whole family! The race will feature fun facts from the town Cemetery Committee and Historical Society. Costumes are welcome (and will be honored at the closing ceremonies, to occur at 12 p.m.).
At the start and finish at Christ Church, there will be snacks and family-friendly activities like pumpkin decorating with the Easton Arts Council and face painting with Easton Pride. The Historical Society of Easton will also be offering a talk on the cemeteries of Easton.
Free kids shuttle runs with prizes will be hosted at 11 a.m. and a free Kids Fun Run at 11:30. Closing Ceremonies will take place at noon.
After the race, stop by the Easton Park & Recreation Office (652 Morehouse Road) from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for Air Brush Tattoo’s, an Inflatable Ax Toss and a Zombie Maze. For more information, contact Danielle Alves with Easton Park & Recreation at dalves@eastonct.gov.
Then, at the Easton Public Library (691 Morehouse Road), don’t miss the “Yo Yo Guy,” Joe Higby’s high energy, interactive Yo Yo show from 1-2 p.m. and Halloween Story Time from 2-3 p.m. for kids ages 3-7. Fun and spooky stories will be shared with a craft.
Silverman’s Farm (451 Sport Hill Road) will be a hub of activity per usual in October. Stop there on your way home.
