Samuel P. Senior Memorial Park, a 10.4-acre wetland park on Center Road in Easton, is the site of the second Boy Scout project in the last two years. Easton Boy Scout Lincoln LaMastro of Troop 66 completed his Eagle Scout project in August.

LaMastro, a senior at Joel Barlow High School in Redding, designed and built eleven weatherproof signs illustrating the principal trees, flowers, shrubs, and other flora that can be found in the park. Each sign has a color photograph of the subject flower or tree, and a detailed description of the plant. LaMastro took the photos and did the research on the plants, with additional botanical expertise from Anthony Zemba of Landtech of Westport. The work  was done in the spring and summer of 2022, and completed in August.

We have invited students from our local schools to have class visits to the park with Aspetuck Land Trust to supply expert botanical speakers for the touring class groups. The park is open to the public and free of charge. It was started  59 years ago in 1963, and is now maintained by a volunteer board of directors.
