Selectman Nick D’Addario will run for First Selectman to succeed David Bindelglass, who has announced his retirement after three terms as Easton’s First Selectman. D’Addario is completing his first term as Selectman, during which he worked alongside Bindelglass to complete critical local projects such as the EMS building and continued support for Easton’s schools, seniors, and open spaces, Democratic Town Committee Chair Nanette DeWester announced today.

DeWester also announced that local small business owner Adrienne Burke will run for Selectman, joining D’Addario on the Democratic ticket. Burke, a registered Unaffiliated voter, who currently sits on the Library Board, is known to many for her transformation of Easton’s oldest business, Greiser’s, into a thriving local coffee shop and popular hub for community events. The D’Addario-Burke for Easton campaign will be chaired by Bindelglass.

In Easton’s last municipal elections in 2023, Bindelglass and D’Addario led the Democratic ticket that secured the most decisive victory for Democrats ever in municipal elections, sweeping all major races by historically large margins. Democrats have held the majority on the Easton Board of Selectmen since 2019 when Bindelglass won his first term as First Selectman on a platform to make local government more accessible and transparent, and to resolve long-standing local issues including the preservation of the Mill River portion of the South Park property and renovation of the Easton EMS headquarters.

“Nick has been a wonderful partner on the Board of Selectmen and I strongly endorse his candidacy for First Selectman.” said Bindelgass. “I have seen firsthand his commitment to Easton and to good local government. He puts in the time and listens to everyone’s point of view because he believes in transparency and fiscally responsible solutions to make Easton’s local government more open and efficient. Nick’s executive experience running a regional business will be an asset in managing our town.”

DeWester said, “We’re thrilled Nick and Adrienne will lead our Democratic slate this November. They bring a deep understanding of what makes our town special and will ensure Easton remains a well-run, welcoming town known for its beautiful farms and open spaces, excellent schools, and support for seniors. They are committed to ensuring Easton has a responsive local government run with professional expertise, civility, and compassion.”

D’Addario said: “I have been honored to serve as Selectman alongside Dave Bindelglass. Together we have delivered on the promises we made to voters, holding the line on taxes without major cuts to services or schools and we’ve ensured the preservation of open spaces and farms. With the potential for an economic downturn looming, I’m committed to maintaining the open and transparent government that Democrats brought to Easton so we can all work together to preserve the character of the town and to find creative solutions to important issues as when we secured millions in state funding for the EMS building. I look forward to bringing my experience in managing people and a complex business to the role of First Selectman. I am thrilled to be running with Adrienne. We offer proven leadership and are committed to preserving everything that makes Easton unique while planning for our future.”

Burke said: “Just as I was honored in 2019 to be asked by the Republican Town Committee to run for a seat on the Library Board, I feel privileged now to join Nick D’Addario on the Democratic ticket in my run for Selectman. I’m proud of our bipartisan accomplishments on the Library Board and that my shop in Easton has become a gathering place for people with diverse points of view. I hope to extend that spirit of collaboration, open communication, and optimism to the Board of Selectmen to serve the town we all love.”

DeWester added, “One of the most important reasons Democrats have enjoyed historic wins in Easton is our commitment to listening to the community. We knock on thousands of doors to ensure we’re in tune with voters and in the fall we will hold a Democratic Candidate Forum to give everyone in town the opportunity to meet our Democratic candidates on Row A.”
