The town’s Social Services Department has once again set up a Giving Tree program to provide gifts to local seniors this holiday season.

Daniel Simonelli, Easton’s municipal agent and social services director, said residents who wish to provide a gift for a local senior can pick up a tag beginning Nov. 24. Gifts will be accepted through Dec. 18. Each tag lists a specific item, and organizers say the program offers an opportunity to spread some holiday cheer to members of the community.

This is the second year that Simonelli has offered a Giving Tree program.

Other ways to give include the Martha Carrie Schurman Fund, which was established by the late Albert Schurman in memory of his wife. Supported by Schurman and ongoing donations from local residents, the fund helps seniors pay extraordinary bills and cover other essential needs. Contributions are accepted year-round and can be made by mail or in person.
